| This kit was the first "newer" Star Wars model that I bought and built. The older AMT/ERTL kits, like the 30 year old Imperial Star Destroyer, didn't really want to go together. But this kit is nothing like those, and makes those older ones seem very antiquated in comparison to their tooling quality. The kit goes together easily and quite naturally with the well engineered tabs and cut out sections. As far as the detail level goes, it's decent, but could use some improvements. Panel lines are spaced out but are engraved. Some builders have scribed extra lines in, while others have also added detail bits and pieces to really make it shine. All in all, it's a great looking kit out of the box and is quite simple to put together. This was the first kit (to my knowledge) that came out in 1:2256 scale, and with it's combination of simplicity and detail, makes it the perfect scale to build a fleet around. | |
