Another kit I've been wanting since I heard it was being released.
When you consider the size, price, and the fact it was actually designed to be a snap kit, it's actually amazing.
There are enough decals provided to nearly eliminate the need for any painting.
The accuracy is very good for the scale.
Round 2/Polar Lights did an EXCELLENT job with this one.
I look forward to seeing more "new tool" kits from them in the future |

1000 Scale refit review.

More or less this kit fills the need in 1/1000 scale for a resonably priced model of the "Big E". I was amazed that they actually had three decal sheets included and they appear to be very accurate to the Enterprise filming model. I was very impressed that the warp pylons held up while I was "flying" it around my room (admit it you've done it too) and don't shake like on the AMT kits I've had do. The only issues I had were that the photon torpedo tube details are over simplified and that there was no detail on the kit for the saucer docking port (see TMP) although a decal for it is included. Overall a great kit for the scale. I look forward to building it. |

Polar Lights 1/1000th Refit Enterprise

Polar Lights have rightly got the reputation for creating fantastic Star Trek kits and this will further enhance it
I bought the kit from the Starshipmodeler store and it arrived very well packaged in just over a week.
For a snap fit kit it puts a lot of normal kits to shame!
The fit is just about perfect and the usual weak point of the engine pylons is very cleverly tackled and incredibly strong. (I know, I've dropped it a couple of times) I ran liquid glue around the seams just to tidy it up but it really wasn't necessary
But, the biggest highlight of the kit are the decal sheets! There are 3 of them and they literally cover every inch of the model. It makes reproducing the aztec pattern an absolute breeze. A word of advice. Dont fit the warp engines until the decaling is complete as it makes decal placement a whole lot easier. I did mine with the engines in place and it probably took me an extra evening because of it. The painting instructions specify a pearlescent white base and its well worth investing in a rattle can of it as it really justifies the end result.
In summing up, this is polar lights best kit to date and a must have. If I could give it six stars I would! |
